Well, I don’t know about you, but having a healthy life balance has felt like floating up a river without a paddle, it’s felt impossible many days. I really struggled to balance it all when I became a mom, that was my tipping point for me. So after drowning in it for a few years, it’s something I decided I needed to do something about, I needed to make some changes. I owned a wedding and event planning company for years, and I’ve always prided myself in being a very organized person….but I’m human, when you add the full-time job of kids to the mix….we’re all human and it can be too much sometimes!! When we get in this space, we all know we need to adjust and pivot to whatever can lighten the load, but man, it can seem to be too much sometimes when you’re in the thick of it. I’ve been working hard to create a better, more balanced lifestyle for me and my family for a couple of years now, and through changes in daily habits, simple lifestyle changes, and a business model conducive to being a mom, I’ve lessened the load considerably.
With technology being accessible all the time, there can be great things about it like buying a new purse or pair of shoes in the middle of the night, or conducting a zoom call at 2am….but what if you run an online business? Can you ever get away from it? Is it 24 hours? These are lessons I’ve learned along the way, not all online businesses work or are conducive to a good quality of life. You can work from home and still be consumed by your job/business. If we work 9-5 in today’s world, how do we handle all of our family/mom responsibilities? How can you be in three places at one time? What do these pressures do to our everyday lives? If you work a regular job, and do all the things moms need to do, how do we get it done? Would time flexibility help? It sure did for me:)
Can your expertise, current profession, or your interests be something you could do online? Have you ever considered it? There’s no leave it to beaver 9-5 lifestyle anymore….it’s long gone. I think the change in our world has caused much upheaval in the home and made it much harder for us to live as a mom, doing all the kid’s activities, getting them to school, etc. and working full-time…it can be exhausting. Also, the divorce rate is above 50%, so many women are doing it all completely on their own, so how do we make it work? Have you ever considered an online business to create a healthier life balance? I made this choice a couple of years ago and haven’t looked back since. It’s provided me the ability to take my kids to and from school, to all their sporting events, and to still have time for my business while they’re at school. So, is there truly a health and life balance? Well, unfortunately, the answer to this is a bit grim. Most studies have shown that we lead very unbalanced and unhealthy lifestyles. If you really put pen to paper and are to answer these questions honestly, how would you do? Do you feel like you’re in good overall health? Do you exercise, eat well, and consider yourself healthy? If so, do you feel like your health lies in your body alone? An unhealthy body can come from being unbalanced in a variety of facets of our life.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
- Do you have healthy relationships?
- Are you fulfilled professionally?
- Do you express yourself creatively?
- Do you have a healthy sex life?
- Are you financially secure?
- Do you live in a healthy environment?
- Are you in a healthy mental state?
- What’s your true scorecard in these areas?
- Do you feel fulfilled in each area?
